That experience is still a huge part of how I approach training today. I know what it's like to love your dog and feel frustrated, confused, or unsure of what to do next. And I also know how incredible it feels when things finally start to click.

For me, dog training is about so much more than obedience. It's about understanding the dog in front of you, building trust, setting clear expectations, and giving dogs the outlets and freedom they need to thrive. The first time you see your dog having true freedom, you’ll never go back.

That same philosophy inspired the newest chapter of The Proper Pup Co., our Off Leash Adventure Club. I wanted to create something that gives dogs the opportunity to get out, explore, socialize, and actually use the skills we've worked so hard to build. What's the point of all that training if we aren't out enjoying life with our dogs?

And when I'm not hanging out with dogs? There's a good chance you'll find me at the barn. I'm a lifelong horse girl and compete with my hunter/jumper mare. Apparently, I just can't get enough of working with four-legged animals!
